Hasman Technical Services supports Noguchi to work against COVID-19
Accra, April 07, GNA – Hasman Technical Services Limited (HTSL) a Ghanaian-owned company, on Tuesday, presented a cheque for GHS 100,000 to the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR) to aid its Covid-19 testing activities.
The cheque was presented by Mr William Andoh Wood, the Managing Director of the Company, and received by Professor Abraham Anang, the Director General of the Institute.
Mr Wood noted that since Ghana recorded its first case of COVID-19, the NMIMR, being the leading biomedical research institute, had been the receiving point for testing of samples from health institutions across the country and the sub-region.
The company’s gesture, therefore, was prompted by the critical and sensitive role that the NMIMR was playing, especially in the management and control of the COVID-19 pandemic and other diseases, such as meningitis.
“Your team at the institute put your lives at risk, considering the highly contagious nature of the new COVID-19, to support the country to manage this disease, and we commend your efforts at saving humanity,” he said.
As a home grown organisation, Hasman remained committed to caring for the community in which it operated, and to delivering quality services for the benefit of businesses to impact Ghana’s economy towards sustainable development, he said.
Since its establishment in 2014, HTSL Mr Wood said, had been providing world class technical services to the Power Generation and the Oil and Gas sectors.
He said the company also delivered services in new unit construction and installation, project planning, operation and maintenance, as well as facilitated project commissioning among its clients.
He wished Noguchi well in its endeavours, and appealed to the public to abide by all the directives outlined by the government and health professionals to control the pandemic for the immediate return of normal social and economic life.
Prof Annan thanked the HTSL for the donation, which he said, was very significant to the Institute, and would tremendously support the enhancement of its operations.
Such assistance, he said, confirmed the society’s appreciation of the work of the NMIMR.He said the Institute had performed an enormous task not only in conducting testing for communicable and non-communicable diseases, but also trained research scientists and built the capacities of health institutions.
He welcomed HTSL’s partnership and called on other organisations to emulate the gesture to enable the Institute to advance its operations to curb the spread of the virus.
